Intuition has an image problem. It’s often blamed for leading us astray, but in fact when things go badly for us, that’s usually a result of following our instincts, not our intuition. Unfortunately, many of us struggle to distinguish between intuition and instinct… including myself. Previously I’ve tended to use the words ‘gut instinct’ and ‘intuition’ interchangeably, but what I’ve learned in recent times is that they’re actually not the same thing. So what’s the difference?
